ARTIST BIO
Taryn Andreatta is a Colorado born and raised, American artist, actress, filmmaker, painter, dancer, musician, and model based in the United States. Taryn Andreatta at a young age moved to Athens, Greece after being accepted into the modeling agency Fashion Cult and later modeled in Athens Fashion Week. It was at this time during an economic downturn that she began contacting photographers directly through Fashion Cult's network to create editorial content and art collaborations. She learned firsthand many of the intricacies of photography, lighting, and filmmaking throughout this period in Europe where she worked with several notable photographers.
She was first recognized by Conde Nast's British Publication Love Magazine while living in Athens, Greece. Then later caught the attention of Italian Editor in Chief of GQ Italy, Gabriele Romagnoli, when he published her first short film online which she created in London. From there she formed a friendship with the publication who published her modeling work 26 times over the years and later said "there has been a rare elective affinity between Taryn and GQ for some time now. Taryn's polaroids recall the provocations of the early 20th century by the Dadaists who identified with art itself and for which eroticism itself was a form of art. Indeed it was art. Dadaists and Surrealists have also taught us how Eros is the deepest expression of our nature and therefore how impossible it is to ignore it, a lesson that Taryn knows by heart and puts into practice in her work as an artist and a model." https://www.gqitalia.it/tags/taryn-andreatta
Throughout her life she has worked with and modeled for such renowned photographers as Mick Rock, Francesco Carrozzini, Iris Brosch, Kelia Anne Maccluskey, Nicolas Guerin, Jens Stoltz, David Bellemere, Spencer Tunick, Yan Senez, Remi Rebillard, Richard Kern, Akiss Paraskevopoulos, Vincent Peters, Francois Berthier, Maciek Jasik, as well as numerous others including friend and Rolling Stone Magazine's former Chief Photographer Mark Seliger who exhibited a platinum print of her titled "Taryn" alongside photographs of Iman, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash at the KMR Arts Gallery on September 29, 2018 for his exhibition "Mark Seliger: Platinum Prints." https://www.kmrarts.com/#/mark-seliger-platinum-prints-september-29december-29-2018-1/
Taryn Andreatta has also been a subject for artist and friend Ryan McGinley's exhibition "Yearbook," which is a record and celebration of community, documenting a vibrant crowd of creatives, musicians, and artists in New York City. Pushing against the conventions of staged portraiture, McGinley’s installation celebrates not just the beauty of the human form, but individuality, diversity, and strength; a multifaceted portrait made up of hundreds of people, unified and distinct." - Art Almanac. https://www.art-almanac.com.au/ryan-mcginley-yearbook/
GQ has declared McGinley the most important photographer in America.
Additionally, she has worked with artist Mark Sink, who has photographically documented her as well as the lives of Andy Warhol, and Jean Michel Basquiat. Artist Mark Sink is the nephew of Samuel Finley Breese Morse who was nicknamed the "Father of American Photography." Their collodion wet plate work together has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Downtown Denver and later auctioned to raise funds for artists.
Taryn Andreatta has also collaborated with Internationally renowned conceptual photographer and Mexican American Visual Artist Daniela Edburg on a commission for her exhibition "Mi Tierra" at the Denver Art Museum on February 16, 2018. The photographic piece titled "The Plan," is a limited edition archival ink print for which Andreatta modeled. The Denver Art Museum acquired "The Plan" for its permanent collection. A second archival ink print of "The Plan" was later made available for purchase through a museum program which enables art to be affordable for young collectors, inspiring kids to begin collecting art early on, and proceeds supported acquisitions for the museum's collection.
Taryn Andreatta has also appeared in two music videos of her close friends Alaina & Patrick Moore with the band Tennis, for their songs "I Miss That Feeling" and "Mean Streets."
